Sarah Gibson MP Praises Lib Dem Cllr Ian Thorn on new role as Leader of Wiltshire Council

This is a big day for Wiltshire. I am delighted to see Councillor Ian Thorn leading the council and bringing in a new Liberal Democrat administration. After 16 years of the Conservatives in control of the Council, people in Wiltshire finally have change.

Ian is supported by a fantastic and professional cabinet who, like Ian, are committed to working for local people, improve services and deliver the fresh start Wiltshire needs.

Cllr Ian Thorn and his new cabinet team are supported by an excellent group of Liberal Democrat Councillors who are dedicated to reaching out to communities, businesses and organisations, across the County, listening to residents and their concerns and rolling up their sleeves to fix the issues that matter.

Ian and his team want to see more decisions taken closer to where they matter. Wiltshire is bigger than County Hall - all the way in Trowbridge. A Liberal Democrat Wiltshire Council will look at bringing decisions closer to our towns and villages across the county so that people here can have their say closer to home.

This is the real difference a Liberal Democrat-led Wiltshire Council will bring to residents. I am thrilled I will get the opportunity to work with Ian and his team.
