Sarah Gibson MP: “Dealing with Water Companies is like playing ‘Whack-a-mole’

“This is yet another slap in the face for families who are already struggling with sky-high bills.
“Water firms have been allowed to crank up prices while continuing to pollute our rivers and seas, and now the regulator has been completely outmanoeuvred.
“Over the summer, I launched a “Cut our Water Bills” campaign because of Thames Water’s introduction of a hosepipe ban while failing to deal with a series of leaks, effecting my constituents in Royal Wootton Bassett and the surrounding villages.
“Now, constituents of mine covered by Wessex Water are facing a whopping increase in their bills. Dealing with Water Companies is like playing ‘Whack-a-Mole’. You try and tackle one problem, then another one springs up.
“I am urging people to back my campaign to cut our water bills. These companies simply do not understand the pressure their increases are having on my constituents. They need to listen.
“The Liberal Democrats are urging the Government to move swiftly on replacing Ofwat with a stronger, more effective regulator and to introduce a single social tariff to better protect the most vulnerable customers.”
