Armed Forces Tour

On the topic of our service personnel, I was delighted to have the opportunity to give a Parliamentary tour to some of the brave men and women from Lyneham to Calne.

The few weeks of Parliamentary recess held for Party conferences are usually highly booked for tours so whilst I was unable to organise an official tour with Parliamentary Services, my Westminster team were able to give an unofficial tour of the Palace.

I am told this included some fun facts about Henry VIII’s lost tennis balls in the rafters of Westminster Hall, some interesting facts about the origins of the Suffragette movement in Parliament and the examination of a hidden toilet created by one Thomas Crapper in The Robing Room where the Sovereign prepares for the State Opening of Parliament by changing into their official robes and takes care of any other business…

Whilst my duties unfortunately kept me from giving the tour in person, I was able to  join them  on  a video call and answer a number of questions that affected them as residents.

I am happy to state that by all reports it was an engaging and entertaining day out with a great visit to the Parliamentary gift shop to cap it all off. I wish to extend my thanks to everyone who made the time to visit with a special thanks to Sam who, predictably, excelled at helping to organise the whole event.

If you are interested in booking a Parliamentary tour for yourself or your family, I highly recommend it and my team and I would be more than happy to accommodate you if you just email me your request.
